On Wednesday, the Union Cabinet labeled the recent explosion in Delhi as a "terrorist incident." The Cabinet emphasized the need for a swift investigation to ensure that those responsible, including their accomplices and backers, face justice promptly.
The blast occurred on Monday evening when a vehicle detonated near the Red Fort metro station. Although official details regarding the cause remain undisclosed, law enforcement has initiated a case under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Explosives Act.
Following a Cabinet meeting, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw addressed the media, stating that a resolution was passed condemning the "cowardly and despicable act." He also mentioned that the Cabinet observed a moment of silence to honor the victims of the explosion.

In their resolution, the Cabinet remarked on the "heinous terror incident" executed by anti-national elements through the car explosion. They expressed their condolences to the victims' families and reaffirmed India's commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism in all its forms.
The Cabinet also acknowledged the expressions of solidarity from various nations and commended the prompt and coordinated response from authorities, security personnel, and citizens who displayed bravery and compassion during this crisis.
They assured that the situation is being monitored closely at the highest government levels. The Cabinet reiterated its unwavering dedication to protecting the lives and welfare of all citizens, aligning with its long-standing commitment to national security.
On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security to evaluate the ongoing situation and the progress of the investigation.
